AGENCY | TRINA | MALM

SAL’s heavy lift vessel MV Trina (Type 176) was appointed to support the construction of the new bridge by shipping twelve bridge sections from Nantong, China to Malm, Norway. All twelve sections weigh a total of 2.800 t, with the heaviest unit weighing 426 t (73.8 x 9 x 5.8 m) and the longest unit measuring 75 x 5.9 x 5.8 m (327 t).

Alex. Birger Grieg AS assisted their principal – German Heavy Lift Carrier SAL Heavy Lift GmbH, with pre-planning and coordination for bringing the MV TRINA (159m LOA) alongside the 20m wide quay. The planning, among others, meant a close dialogue with the Pilots for the area, local port authorities as well as Tug Owners for a safe berthing.

The discharge was executed to excellence by the crew of MV TRINA, and all 12 sections on board were discharged in only 6 days.
